Dating back over 1,400 years, it has been rebuilt through dynasties but still holds ancient charm—stone stairways winding uphill, red lanterns swaying gently in the breeze, and incense smoke rising into the trees 🌿. Empress Wu Zetian of the Tang Dynasty once visited here, adding to its historical prestige. From the temple, you get stunning views over the Yi River and the cliffside Buddha carvings of the grottoes below—making it one of the most spiritual and scenic spots in Luoyang 🌄.

🚇 How to get there

From Luoyang city center 🚖: Taxi to Longmen Grottoes takes about 20 minutes and costs 20–30 RMB (€3–4). Xiangshan Temple is inside the scenic area—just follow the marked path or take the electric shuttle.

By bus 🚍: Take Bus 53 or 81 to Longmen Grottoes (龙门石窟) and walk 10–15 minutes to the entrance.

On foot 🚶: From the west bank of the grottoes, cross the pedestrian bridge and follow the path uphill to the temple.
