Wugong Mountain will equally punish anyone who doesn’t plan ahead! But don’t worry, this “experienced traveler” is here to share the hard-earned tips with you!⛰
📍Detailed address:
Luxi County, Pingxiang City, Jiangxi Province — the name itself sounds magical, doesn’t it!
🕑Opening hours:
Peak season: April 1 - October 31
Off season: November 1 - March 31 (next year)
🎫Tickets:
Booking online one day in advance is a bit cheaper! You can also buy on-site, but it’s better to plan ahead~
🌄Scenic features:
It is known as one of “China’s Top Ten Lesser-Known Mountains,” and it truly deserves the title! Pristine forests, granite peaks, spectacular sea of clouds, alpine meadows... Comfortable hiking and amazing photo ops—every shot looks like a blockbuster!
🚎Transportation guide:
🚄🚂High-speed train/train: Arrive at Pingxiang Station or Pingxiang North Station, and there are direct shuttle buses to the visitor center right outside~
✈️Plane: Fly to Changsha Huanghua Airport, then transfer to high-speed train to Pingxiang, followed by the same shuttle bus up the mountain~
🚗Self-driving: Navigate directly to “Wugong Mountain Visitor Service Center,” parking costs 20-30 RMB per day.
🏠Accommodation tips:
Mountain lodging is really super tight! Especially in peak season, be sure to book early!
To catch the sunrise at the Golden Summit, choose “Golden Summit White Crane Peak” or “Guanyin Dang Tent Camp” — the starry sky rooms are also super romantic, but you have to be quick!
🥾Recommended routes:
1⃣️Easy tour (for beginners like me):
Main entrance → Zhong’an cable car up → Golden Summit → Diaomazhuang → Starry Sky Meadow → Glass plank road → Return by Zhong’an cable car
2⃣️Hardcore hiking (for pros): Longshan Village → Fayunjie → Qianzhangyan → Haohan Slope (stay overnight) → Despair Slope → Starry Sky Meadow (stay again) → Diaomazhuang → Golden Summit → Cable car down
(It’s really exhausting but also really rewarding!)
🎒Gear checklist:
ID card, sports shoes, trekking poles (saved my life), sun hat, raincoat, large backpack, thermos (hot water available on the mountain♨️), snacks and dry food (instant noodles on the summit cost 20+ RMB😭), power bank
Quick-dry clothes + windbreaker/down jacket (huge temperature difference!), socks, gloves, scarf
Sunscreen, cold medicine, toiletries, heat packs, tissues, flashlight, mosquito repellent
💡Helpful tips:
✅Check the weather in advance! If it rains, chances are no sunrise or sea of clouds... don’t be disappointed
✅Wear professional hiking shoes or non-slip sports shoes, not sneakers or leather shoes, your feet will really suffer!
✅To see sunrise, sunset, and starry sky, it’s best to stay on the summit, but conditions are tough, be mentally prepared~
✅Sunscreen! Sunscreen! Sunscreen! UV rays are super strong on the mountain, I came back two shades darker😢
✅Travel light is the truth, but don’t skimp on warmth + hot water + energy supplies!
If the mountain doesn’t come to me, I’ll go to the mountain! Wugong Mountain is truly worth it, but be prepared before you go, and it will reward you with endless beautiful views~💚
