Successful 2 Days 1 Night Reverse Trek on Wugong Mountain Healed by Alpine Meadows

We took the most popular reverse route from Longshan Village to the Golden Summit

Day 1️⃣ Departed at 10 AM, Longshan Village ➡ Fayuankai ➡ stayed at Brothers Inn
After leaving Longshan Village, there was about 6 km of continuous uphill climbing, very tiring, but seeing the vast meadows at the summit made it all worthwhile~
Stayed at Brothers Inn near Qianzhangyan, arrived by 4 PM, actually could have walked a bit further. The inn has four-person bunk rooms, with showers and toilets outside the room, electricity from 6-9 AM and PM, no internet. The conditions were just okay. Dinner was homestyle dishes at the inn, about 50 RMB per person for a table of food.

Day 2️⃣ Hero Slope ➡ Despair Slope ➡ Guanyin Tang ➡ Diaomazhuang ➡ Golden Summit ➡ descend
The day started with two big slopes. Despair Slope has a very steep section requiring both hands and feet.
From Diaomazhuang to the Golden Summit is the scenic route. The Golden Summit is the highest peak of Wugong Mountain, at 1918 meters elevation. But in terms of scenery, the alpine meadows from Fayuankai to Diaomazhuang are purer and more breathtaking.
You can take a cable car down from the Golden Summit, but I walked down, descending 1000 meters on foot was really tough on the legs. As the elevation dropped, the meadows turned into shrubs and forests, accompanied by waterfalls and streams.
Started at 6 AM, reached the Golden Summit at noon, descended by 3 PM.

There were many supply points along the two-day route, prices roughly: bottled water 10 RMB, drinks 15 RMB, watermelon/Wangwang crushed ice 10 RMB, instant noodles 15 RMB, fried noodles 20 RMB.
I was lucky to have sunny weather both days. Although I didn’t see sunrise, sunset, sea of clouds, or starry sky, and the sun was scorching, crossing mountain after mountain on the exposed ridge was tough, but looking back at the photos, it all looks so beautiful.
