Coming to Wugong Mountain, I was truly amazed by Tangzhixing Pavilion! After staying here, it’s immediately on my annual list of hidden gem guesthouses. Location, scenery, and experience are all top-notch—perfect for lazy hikers who want an easy climb.
Location & Environment:
Right in Longwangtan Village of Wugong Mountain, backed by bamboo forests, with a small creek in front. The air is full of refreshing negative oxygen ions. It’s only a 3-minute drive or a 10-minute walk to the Jinding cableway. No need to rush out early in the morning to catch the sunrise, and it’s super convenient to come back down at night. The best part is on foggy days—it feels like living in a fairyland. Occasionally, you can even see cows passing by outside the yard, creating a perfect atmosphere.
Design:
Not an over-the-top style, the pure white house is surrounded by green trees, looking especially fresh. The lobby’s light and shadow play immediately impresses you when you enter. Sunlight filters through wooden latticework, making it perfect for photos. There’s a pond in the yard reflecting the distant mountains, shimmering beautifully at dusk. There’s also a camellia forest, which must be even more poetic in autumn and winter.
Guest Rooms:
There are 36 rooms, each with its own name. The Cloud View King Room I stayed in is simply divine! It has a 270° panoramic floor-to-ceiling window. In the morning, opening the curtains reveals mountain views, like hanging a landscape painting right before your eyes. The balcony has a tea set, perfect for daydreaming while watching the clouds. There’s also a huge scenic bathtub where you can soak and watch the starry Milky Way at night. The bedding is soft and feels like five-star quality. The bathroom has a dry-wet separation, and the toiletries have a subtle woody fragrance—attention to detail is excellent.
Public Areas:
The public areas really get young people! There’s an infinity pool that looks like a gem embedded in the forest, with mountain views overhead while swimming. The lobby has a reading area, a tea corner, and even a play area for kids, making it great for families or friends gathering. If you want lively fun, you can sing KTV; if you want quiet, head to the rooftop viewing platform for a 360° unobstructed view of the sea of clouds and sunset.
Dining:
No worries about meals! Breakfast is a free set meal, nutritious and delicious with just the right portion. For dinner, you must order the Wugong Mountain wild vegetable feast. The native chicken soup is incredibly fresh, and the stir-fried pork is very appetizing. Portions are generous and prices are reasonable. The restaurant offers direct sunset views, so you can enjoy the scenery while eating, instantly washing away hiking fatigue.
Nearby Activities:
1. The top choice is to watch the sea of clouds at Jinding. Starting at 5 a.m. is best. The guesthouse can provide guides and shuttle service to the mountain base.
2. If you like hiking, go to Yangshimu Grand Canyon; the owner can arrange a guide.
3. If you prefer to relax, just stroll around the guesthouse. You can picnic or fish by the creek, and in summer nights, there are fireflies.
Practical Tips:
- Book the scenic rooms in advance; they’re really hard to get during peak season.
- The temperature difference on the mountain is big, so bring a jacket even in summer.
- The guesthouse has a free equipment library where you can borrow hiking poles and raincoats, plus there’s a dryer, which is super useful on rainy days.
This is no exaggeration—this is the guesthouse that understands Wugong Mountain best. It’s convenient for hiking and perfect for relaxing. I’ll definitely stay here again next time!
