Yilong Fireworks Factory | A historic industrial site in Macau

This time I went to Macau's long-standing Yilong Firecracker Factory, which is still a well-preserved industrial site. The trail is 400 meters. Along the way, you can see the pulp introduction area, waterway, pond, cannon room and warehouse

📍Address: Taipa Old Town
Business hours: 10:00-18:00
📮Store information: Yilong Firecracker Factory

The old town of Taipa was once a fishing village and an important hub for the fireworks industry. There were once five pyrotechnics factories in Macau, which created a large number of jobs for local residents. It was not until 1980 that workers began to seek more lucrative jobs in pursuit of a safer working environment, and pyrotechnic production in Macau slowed down. The Yilong Firecracker Factory was established in 1925 and closed in 1984. It is the only remaining industrial site in Macau and remains intact today, witnessing the history of pyrotechnic manufacturing in the Old Town.

The trail is about 400 meters long, with historical memories as a guideline. Along the way, you can see the pulp introduction area of the firecracker factory, waterway, pond, chisel room and warehouse. The public can discover the cultural undertones of the park, feel the natural beauty of historic buildings and trees, and explore the various buildings throughout the revitalization area, including buildings bonded with fuses and crimped with firecrackers as well as warehouses, ponds and waterways. The entire Yilong Firecracker Factory covers an area of about 25,000 square meters.

The entrance to the revitalization area, which includes three restored buildings, is located next to the Pinetail Community Center. One of the three buildings is used as a visitor information center and souvenir shop, while the other is used as an exhibition hall to showcase the history of Macau’s firecracker industry and the Yilong Firecracker Factory. The remaining one is not yet open and will be used as a cafe.
