Is Motuo, recommended by Hu Ge, really worth visiting?

It used to be the only county in China that required a ticket to enter and was the last county to be connected by road. Here you’ll find snow-capped mountains, waterfalls, and ancient villages, each view breathtaking. This is Motuo, Tibet~

How to get to Motuo?

🚗 Self-driving: Currently, the only way to enter Motuo is via the Zamo Highway. Note that driving is prohibited after 8 PM, and a "single exit, double entry" policy is in effect (for example, on odd days only exit allowed, on even days only entry allowed).

🚌 Shuttle bus: The only shuttle runs between Nyingchi and Motuo, departing from Bayi Town in Nyingchi (leaves at 8 AM).

⚠ Note: ✔ You must bring your border pass and ID card, or you will not be allowed to enter!

⏰ Best travel time: Recommended April-May or September-November, when the climate is pleasant and the scenery is most beautiful~

About Motuo

Motuo means "flower" 🌺 in Tibetan. Located in Nyingchi, Tibet, it is the only county in China isolated on the southern slope of the Himalayas. It used to require a ticket to enter, but the ticket was canceled on March 16, 2023—super considerate!
