Namjagbarwa Peak is rarely seen by most people; legend says that seeing it once brings a lifetime of good luck. The best time to view Namjagbarwa Peak is from October to April of the following year.

◾️Opening Hours: All day
◾️Recommended Visit Duration: 1 day

1⃣️ Zhibai Village
Many tourists take photos in front of the Namjagbarwa Peak stone monument in Zhibai Village, but for more unique photos, you need to enter the village. In the evening, on the main street of the village, you can look up and see the golden Namjagbarwa Peak right before your eyes. Staying in Zhibai Village allows you to face Namjagbarwa Peak directly from your bed, though it’s hard to see the entire peak.
-
2⃣️ Sejila Pass
1) This is a must-pass route on Highway 318, where you can see the full panorama of Namjagbarwa’s west slope and all six peaks at once. However, it is a bit far from Namjagbarwa Peak, and shooting here is easily affected by the weather of both Sejila Pass and Namjagbarwa Peak. To have good weather at both places simultaneously requires absolute luck.
2) Another spot is below Sejila Pass, which is closer to Namjagbarwa in a straight line and offers a more intimate frontal close-up of the peak. However, transportation is inconvenient, so it’s suitable for photography enthusiasts traveling by car.
-
3⃣️ Suosong Village
1) The first spot is outside Suosong Village, on a barley field by the Yarlung Tsangpo Grand Canyon, directly facing Namjagbarwa. It’s one of the best places to view Namjagbarwa and is a location where you can capture both Namjagbarwa Peak and the Yarlung Tsangpo River in the same frame. It’s easy to find—just walk down the right side behind the Suosong Village hotel to the busiest area.
2) The second spot is on a prominent rock near the Yarlung Tsangpo Grand Canyon at the village edge, which is a bit harder to find. From the main road entering the village, follow the cement road into the village, then head toward the canyon. There’s a big tree and some weeds, and a small path leads to the canyon edge where a large rock is the closest point to the canyon. Standing on this rock, you can shoot a vertical full view of Namjagbarwa Peak.
-
4⃣️ Tunbai Village
Tunbai Village has no accommodations, so many people just pass through, but it’s an excellent spot for photographing Namjagbarwa Peak and a must-visit for photographers.
1) Directly opposite the Qiyuan Resort, here you can capture both Namjagbarwa Peak and beautiful peach blossoms.
2) On the hillside next to the ancient Ruchu Temple in Tunbai Village: a great place to photograph peach blossoms, the grand canyon, and Namjagbarwa Peak all together. Early morning on the southern hillside of Tunbai Village is the best time for shooting.
Namjagbarwa Peak Viewing Platform: This is the best spot to view Namjagbarwa Peak and the rapids and whirlpools of the Yarlung Tsangpo Grand Canyon. From this platform, you can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view of the canyon’s entrance.
-
5⃣️ Namjagbarwa Peak Mountaineering Base Camp
Located on the mountain ridge between the Zhibai and Gegga valleys, the eastern side is adorned with prayer flags. The terrain is slightly elevated, facing the west wall and glacier of Namjagbarwa’s main peak. You can even camp here and spend a night by the bonfire.
-
6⃣️ Baifeng Terrace
This is a hidden viewpoint visited by fewer tourists. It is the watershed between the Lulang Forest Sea and the Yarlung Tsangpo Grand Canyon. At a high altitude, you can see the full view of Namjagbarwa Peak at eye level.
