The Island of the Sun is an island that floats near the town of Copacabana on the shores of Lake Titicaca,
and covers an area of about 21 square kilometers.
It is said that it was originally inhabited by people belonging to the Tiwanaku culture that flourished on the southern shore of Lake Titicaca, but later the Incas invaded and took control.
The island is at a high altitude and in a harsh natural environment with strong sunlight, so no plants can grow, and the entire island is covered with stones and rocks.
The 200-step Inca staircase leading from the port to the hill was also built during the Inca era.
The meticulously constructed stonework of the terraced fields and the waterways, as well as the outstanding architectural techniques of the Inca civilization, continue to support the lives of the islanders.
