Marugame Castle is one of the 100 famous castles in Japan, located in Marugame City, Kagawa Prefecture. It is famous throughout the country for its existing castle tower and well-preserved high stone wall. When visiting the castle, in addition to the castle tower and the main castle, the two historical relics located between Sannomaru and Ninomaru, the high stone wall and the deep well, are the key points for taking photos and historical exploration that cannot be missed.

This high stone wall located on the north side of Sannomaru is the most representative visual focus of Marugame Castle. The stone wall is more than 20 meters high and is one of the highest existing stone walls in Japan. It uses the extremely sophisticated "fan hook matching" technology. It is wide at the bottom and narrow at the top, presenting an elegant arc from bottom to top, combining stability and aesthetics. The stones are closely arranged and the angles are clear, which is a symbol of the power and craftsmanship of the samurai class in the Edo period.
Standing under the stone wall and looking up, the magnificent sense of oppression is shocking, and it is also one of the best photography check-in points in the city. Cherry blossoms bloom in spring, maple leaves turn red in autumn, and the towering stone walls create a picturesque scenery that is loved by architecture fans and history buffs.

⛲ Ninomaru Well｜The legendary deepest well in Japan
This well located in the Ninomaru area is said to be about 65 meters deep, making it one of the deepest wells in Japanese castles. The well is about 2 meters wide, and because of its depth and structure, it is considered to be one of the representatives of the city-building technology at the time. There is an octagonal wooden pavilion on the well for future generations to protect and commemorate.

In addition, there is a legend about this well: it is said that a serious criminal was thrown into the well and executed in the past, making it not only a source of water for daily life, but also adding a layer of history and mystery.
