Matsue's Kyotei Shopping Street, located near the Kyobashi River, is a nostalgic old street. Paved with red bricks, it's lined with cafes, restaurants, souvenir shops, clothing stores, and even a specialty store selling magatama, offering a wide variety of shopping and dining experiences. Two "lucky hearts" are hidden along the street; look for them during your stroll; finding them is said to bring good luck. 💖
This street was also a favorite of Lafcadio Hearn, the Irish writer who lived in Japan. At Karakoro Square (next to the moat cruise boat terminal), you'll see a giant red umbrella and a relief of Lafcadio Hearn, depicting him leaving Japan, a symbolic sight. Whether you're on a date, strolling, or stopping by after a moat cruise, Kyotei Shopping Street offers a unique experience of Matsue's romance and cultural heritage. 🌸
Access: Walking distance from Matsue Station, take the Matsue Sightseeing Bus (bus stop 6), or take the moat cruise to the Kalakoro Plaza Pier.
