Serene Alpine Escape: Kappabashi Bridge to Myojin Pond 🏞️💧🐒
Looking for an easy nature fix in the Japanese Alps? The gentle summer hike from Kappabashi Bridge to Myojin Pond is pure magic. Think lush forest trails, sparkling streams, and wildlife encounters.
Set out from Kappabashi Bridge and enjoy the cool shade as you walk alongside babbling mountain streams. Pause at Dakesawa Marsh for a misty photo-op and watch for playful monkeys darting around the trail!
Bear bells 🔔 are a must. Just ring one as you walk for safety and an authentic touch.
The highlight comes after about 1 hour: Myojin Pond. Pay the 300yen admission and soak up the serenity of crystal-clear sacred water ringed by forest. For a classic snap, cross Myojin Bridge nearby (open all day) for lovely reflections and tranquil views.
Take time to breathe in the mountain air, listen to the birds, and watch the water sparkle under the sun. Morning hikes are quietest and most peaceful. Bring cash (for admission, no cards accepted) and pack water plus sunscreen. Watch your step after rain, as stones can get slippery. Tip: monkeys are curious but keep your snacks zipped up!
Leave no trash and stay on the marked path to protect Kamikochi’s pristine beauty.
