I came to Kamikochi for my annual visit.

I've been staying at Gosenjaku Hotel for the past two years, and the rooms with terraces are the best.

The Azusa River flows right in front of you, so you can spend time reading a book on your room's terrace while listening to the murmuring and taking in the beautiful scenery (some people come here to enjoy the mountain atmosphere rather than trekking, so that's how I spend my time). It's also a nice place to take a little stroll if you feel like it.

The rooms are clean and tidy, and there are some snacks and drinks in the fridge. Tea and water are also available.

The Kamikochi Imperial Hotel also has a similar terrace, but I'm not really a fan of the fact that meals are charged separately (it's not in a busy area, so I wonder if there are people who choose not to eat at the hotel...? What do they do in that case?? And the meals are Imperial Hotel prices...). It's great that you can choose the menu/type for breakfast and dinner, and everything is incredibly delicious.

The cafe atmosphere and the apple pie are great! Apparently, in the cold season, they light a fire on the mantelpiece in the center of the cafe.

However, in the end, I ended up staying here because of its location near Kappa Bridge.

Unfortunately, it started raining on the day of my arrival, so I couldn't take any great photos. It's a shame.

Recently, I've heard that many people from both Japan and overseas are visiting Kamikochi through Instagram and TikTok, so the crowds are incredible, but that just goes to show how charming it is.

Atmosphere/Facilities: It's calm and quiet.
There's a very popular cafe on the first floor, and there's always a line during the day.
It seems that outdoor terrace seating is also available on sunny days.

Recommendation: The food, of course. The dinner course is quite impressive. (Sorry, I'm not an expert enough to talk about course meals.) I'll post some photos.

Average Price: Around 50,000-60,000 yen per night? Overall Rating: 5 stars
