【Zócalo Square】
This square was built by the Spanish on the site where the ceremonial grounds of the Aztec Empire's capital, Tenochtitlán, once stood. It is surrounded by major tourist attractions, including the Metropolitan Cathedral, the National Palace, and the ruins of Templo Mayor. The area is relatively safe as it is patrolled by police.

If you have time, visit the National Museum of Anthropology, which houses cultural treasures such as the Aztec Calendar.
