Short day trip to Katsuō-ji Temple 🛕

How to get around: 🚌 Bus (800 Yen) or 🚕Taxi (3200-3500 Yen)
Must-see attractions: Daruma dolls 🪆
Food & beverage: Small cafe at the entrance/exit area

Had a chance to visit Katsuō-ji in January early this year.

Katsuō-ji is a thirty minute bus ride from Minoh-Kayano Station. You can take the Hankyu Bus from the Bus stop No.8 outside the Station. Do search for the bus schedule online as the buses are rather limited & also arrive early as there are lots of people queuing prior to bus arrival. (If full, you will have to wait like an hour for the next one)

On a sunny day, the views are pretty nice as evidenced by the pictures. There are Daruma dolls in various shapes and sizes all around the temple. You are given a blank post card at the entrance of the temple (400yen entry) and you go around the temple where there are 6 stations for you to stamp the postcard to complete the entire Daruma photo.

The temple is situated in a rather quiet neighborhood, with not many other things to explore. Possible to explore the temple within 1 hour ish, but there is a little bit of climbing since the route goes about a small hill. So do have a light breakfast or eat after as there are limited food options within the attraction itself. Do not that there are no convenience stores around the attraction.

Would advise you to take the taxi (for group of 4) if you missed the bus on the way out of the area. As a solo traveller, I did managed to share a taxi with 3 other strangers when I missed the bus.
