We ended our tour in Sri Lanka in this amazing location MIRISSA located on the south side of the island really close to the famous city Galle. located in the Matara District of the Southern Province
Mirissa is not a busy place where you ca enjoy the real surf vibes on the south side.
Many surf school for all levels
Numerous places set up tables and chairs right up to the tide line day and night.
All restaurants are literally on the beach with fresh and amazing fish every day.
Some of them are proper restaurants some are just for snacks and beer but all of them have amazing view on the indian ocean.
People around is friendly and easy going

You could find many small shops too, even souvenirs shops for some memories.

There are so many amazing things to do in Mirissa.
We spent 3 nights here and could easily have stayed a couple more if we had the time.

Whale watching is one of the most popular activities in the area. The whale watching season runs from November to April with March and April being the best months to spot Blue Whales. The morning is the best time to go as it is much calmer with the wind picking up in the afternoon leading to rougher seas.

We came here from Unawatuna by public bus (a great way to travel on a budget), which costs 75 LKR ($0.40 USD) per person and took 45 mins – 1 hour. It’s a pretty bus journey along the coast and buses leave very frequently from the main road in Unawatuna.
But if you get there by car you do not need to rush for car park are all hotels and restaurants are easy parking area.

I would definitely said MIRISSA is the backpacker heaven for sunset lovers
