"Aoshima Shrine" located on Aoshima Island in Miyazaki City is a shrine built on sacred ground that is said to be the setting of the Japanese myth "Umisachi Yamasachi". The shrine grounds cover the entire island, which is about 1.5km in circumference, and the shrine is attractive for its unique scenery surrounded by subtropical plants and the oddly shaped rock "Oni no Sentakuita". It is said to bring good fortune in matchmaking, safe childbirth, and safe voyages, and many worshippers come from all over the country.

Train: 1 minute walk from JR Nichinan Line "Aoshima Station"
Bus: 1 minute walk from Miyazaki Kotsu "Aoshima" bus stop
Car: 25 minutes from Miyazaki Station

✍️Other information

Time required: Approximately 40 to 60 minutes for worship and walking around the island. If you include photography and walking around the rocks, it will take about 1.5 hours.
Toilets: Toilets on the island are paid. There is a free public toilet in front of Yayoi Bridge.
Note: Yayoi Bridge may be submerged in seawater during high tide, so it is recommended to visit at low tide.
