【Shikoku, Japan】The hidden charm of Oboke, Iya Onsen, and Iya Kazura Bridge

#樱花2024

If you are tired of the hustle and bustle of big cities, the Shikoku region of Japan 🇯🇵 is a good place to start a comfortable and healing journey 😌. The Shikoku region consists of Kagawa Prefecture, Tokushima Prefecture, Kochi Prefecture, Ehime Prefecture, and islands in the Seto Inland Sea. Among them, Oboke in Tokushima Prefecture and the canyon landscape and hot springs in the Iya area are very famous😍.

The hot springs in Iya have a long history and are known as one of the three secret hot springs in Japan♨️. We chose to stay in a hot spring hotel in Iya🏨 and enjoy a one night, two meals trip. At night, we enjoyed the comfort and therapeutic effects of the hot springs and immersed ourselves in the embrace of nature🥰.

The next morning we arrived at Oboke Gorge and took a sightseeing boat. Guided by an experienced boatman, we admired the beauty of the Oboke Gorge valley up close. Then we went to the nearby Iya Kazuha Bridge, which is hand-woven with wisteria using traditional techniques and reinforced with hidden steel cables.

The Man Bridge spans a steep valley, with turbulent river water rushing under the bridge. Although it is very safe after being reinforced, it is still shaky when you walk on it. If you are afraid of heights, you really dare not walk on it. After mustering up the courage to walk up, overlooking the magnificent view of the canyon from the bridge, you will really be shocked by the unique beauty of nature☺️.
