This shrine is one of the three Zenkoji shrines, along with Tsumashina Shrine and Yufuku Shrine.
It is said that it was founded around the 5th year of the Jitō era (692), but this is not certain.

In the precincts, there is a large, 2m-tall, powerful stone that is said to have been carried by the famous sumo wrestler Raiden.

A magnificent vermilion-painted torii gate welcomes you to this shrine.
