The Nagasaki Museum of History and Culture in Tateyama, Nagasaki City is a large facility where you can learn about overseas exchanges from the Edo period to modern times and the history of the Nagasaki Magistrate's Office. 🏛️
The museum displays Nagasaki's multi-layered history, including trade with Nanban, Christian culture, and the activities of Sakamoto Ryoma.
The restored Magistrate's Office also holds skits on weekends and holidays, making you feel like you've traveled back in time. 🎭
I took my time to look around the permanent exhibition and the Magistrate's Office Zone.
The trick to conquering the museum is to check the morning visit and skit schedule in advance + deepen your understanding with the audio guide. 📱
The museum is spacious, and there are plenty of cafes and shops, so you can relax. ☕️
To get there, take the tram from JR Nagasaki Station to the Sakuramachi tram stop, and walk for about 10 minutes. 🚋
Admission is 600 yen for adults and 300 yen for high school students and younger. Special exhibitions are charged separately. Perfect for couples and solo travelers who want to satisfy their intellectual curiosity.
Why not make a deep memory of your trip at this museum where you can learn all about Nagasaki's history at once? 📚
