Nagasaki colonial-style bank building

#SeptemberGoodPlaces2025
The Nagasaki Branch Memorial Museum of the Former Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank was completed in 1904. At the time, it was the only foreign bank west of Kobe, Japan. It is now the largest surviving stone Western-style building in Nagasaki!
The first floor offers a brief history of the old Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank. The second floor has been converted into a memorial for Sun Yat-sen and his friend Shokichi Umeya! Shokichi was a Nagasaki-born businessman. In 1895, Sun Yat-sen met Shokichi Umeya, who ran a photography studio in Hong Kong, through his mentor, Cantlie. The two instantly became friends. The third floor features the architectural features of the bank's architect and Nagasaki's relationship with overseas trade.
For this ticket price, the content is quite rich, including interactive games.
