Introducing Dong'ao Island
Ao Island is located in the southeast of Xiangzhou District, Zhuhai City, 30 kilometers from Xiangzhou, in the central Wanshan Islands. It covers an area of approximately 4.663 square kilometers. It is named Dong'ao Island because the Dong'ao Bay on the east side of the island cuts into the middle of the island by about 1,500 meters, forming a large depression. The island is divided into two parts, north and south. The coastline is mostly steep cliffs. Huge rocks dot the hillsides, and reefs are numerous within 90 meters of the shore. The island has a population of 415 and is home to a fishery station, a supply and marketing agency, a savings bank, a school, and a clinic. Four simple roads totaling 14.6 kilometers are available, and there is ample water.
