Tired of the crowded sakura spots in Tokyo or Osaka? If you're looking for a chill and less chaotic hanami (cherry blossom viewing) experience that's just as stunning, head straight to Nagasaki!
Golden Season: Sakura in Nagasaki blooms slightly earlier than other places. The peak season is usually from late March to early April, so plan accordingly!
Tateyama Park
This is the ultimate sakura spot in Nagasaki city! With over 700 cherry blossom trees blooming across the hills, the view of sakura combined with the cityscape is absolutely breathtaking.
Special Features: The park hosts a Sakura Festival and a nighttime Light-Up event. Having a hanami party under the soft pink lights is incredibly romantic!
Nagasaki Peace Park
Experience sakura viewing with a touch of history. Around the park and the Atomic Bomb Museum, there are about 200 cherry blossom trees in bloom.
Special Features: Capture photos of sakura that symbolize peace and new hope, offering a beautiful and heartfelt experience.
Omura Park
This spot is truly spectacular! Although it's a bit further from the city center, the park boasts over 2,000 cherry blossom trees, including the special "Omurazakura" variety, which has an impressive number of petals—some flowers have up to 200 petals!
Special Features: Ranked as one of Japan's top 100 cherry blossom viewing spots, the park also features a nighttime Light-Up event.
Hanami Style for the Youth
Don't forget to bring a picnic mat, snacks, drinks (grab a bento box or sweets from a convenience store), and a fully charged camera or phone! Sit back, relax, chat with friends, take stunning photos, and soak in the authentic Japanese vibes amidst the pink blossoms.
