Japan is famous for it's industry and the economic boom that drove it's success after WW2, there are many iconic brands from Japan that we encounter in our daily life. Toyota is one of the biggest car manufacturers in the world and is a brand synonomous with quality and inginuity.
The Toyota musuem in Nagoya is based in one of its originial factories and combines their history of textile production and automotive manufactring, the latter being more famous. The museum houses a lot of equpiment from differnt time periods with multiple working displays to help you visualise past production methods. There are also very helpful and enthusiast staff offering talks throughout the museum (mainly in Japanese)
The highlight for me was the car exhibits, they have everything from Toyota’s original designs to modern electric cars. It also houses cars from its other brands such as Lexus and Dihatsu.
I was mesmerised by the robots they have set up to demonstrate modern car manufacturing, you can also get a free 3D printed car keyring as a souvenir.
Overall a fascinating museum but I would advise getting the English audio guide as most of the displays are only in Japanese - the live talks are also in Japanese so that’s a possible issue for some.
It’s close to Sakō metro station and also very close to a huge Aeon mall with great food options if you’re hungry. Just across the road!
Entry is around £5 and you can get tickets from vending machines at the door.
