Nagoya Heritage Vibes🏯

During my visit to Nagoya, I couldn't resist adding a visit to Nagoya Castle. Even though I knew the main structure was under renovation and closed to the public, I still wanted to experience the historical charm of this famous city.
While the castle tower was partially covered with scaffolding, preventing me from taking in the full view, which was a bit of a shame, the gardens and stone walls outside the castle are still well-preserved, and a walk around them was still worth the trip.
While I didn't get to climb the castle tower and take in the cityscape, strolling along the walls, admiring the moat and the traditional architecture of the Honmaru Palace, I still felt the charm of this ancient castle. I definitely want to come back once it's restored! 🏯✨
📷 Many people still take photos near the entrance to say "I've been there." There's also a display area with a golden shachi statue and a historical sign nearby, so you can still absorb some cultural information beyond just a quick tour.
🌿 The grounds are filled with greenery, and during the day, when the sunlight filters in, it's a perfect place for a leisurely stroll. You'll also have the chance to see performance groups dressed in samurai and ninja costumes passing by. Even if there's no performance time, you can still take photos with them—it's quite fun!
☕️ If you plan your visit during the day, you can take a stroll to the nearby Meijo Park or find a cafe for a cultural stroll through the city.
📌 Tips
・The castle tower is currently undergoing earthquake-resistant reinforcement (estimated completion date undetermined), so only the Honmaru Palace and surrounding gardens are open.
・Tickets have been adjusted to a limited area (visiting the palace alone is ¥500).
・It's recommended to wear comfortable walking shoes; the grounds are quite large and walking around is quite a bit of work.
・Spring is said to be the most beautiful season for cherry blossoms, and autumn is said to be the most beautiful!
