Naminoue Shrine is one of the important shrines associated with Japan's Ise Grand Shrine. Ise Grand Shrine is a shrine closely associated with the Japanese Imperial Family and is known for enshrining Amaterasu Omikami. Naminoue Shrine is particularly important among them, located north of the Inner Shrine of Ise Grand Shrine and dedicated to Toyouke-no-Okami (also known as Inari).
Naminoue Shrine plays an important role as a temporary enshrinement site for the enshrined deity during Ise Grand Shrine's Shikinen Sengu (a ritual to rebuild a shrine in a new location). Ise Grand Shrine alternates between rebuilding the Inner Shrine and Outer Shrine every 20 years, and Naminoue Shrine is used for this purpose, providing a temporary lodging for the enshrined deity.
Ise Shrine is an important part of Japanese history and religion, and Naminoue Shrine is an important place where the deity enshrined at Ise Shrine is enshrined, and holds great significance in Japanese traditions and beliefs.
