This is an introduction to Kokusai Street, which we visited during our trip to Okinawa.
◆Pork and Egg Onigiri◆
First, we went to "Pork and Egg Onigiri Makishi Main Branch" at Asaichi.
I had heard that it was a shop where there was a line, but I thought "It's the rainy season and it's a weekday morning, so it'll be fine!"
But when I went there, there was already a line by 8 o'clock, and it took more than 30 minutes to get my onigiri.
After eating the onigiri, it was still around 9 o'clock and most of the other shops were closed, so I went back to the hotel.
When it was 10 o'clock, I had the front desk store my luggage and went for a walk down Kokusai Street again.
◆Jimami Tofu◆
First, we went to "Hanasho", a Jimami Tofu specialty store.
The sauce was delicious, but it was also refreshing with a little wasabi.
Hanasho's Jimami Tofu can be stored at room temperature, so I bought some as a souvenir to take home.
◆Souvenir Fruits (Snack Pineapples)◆
There are many shops selling tropical fruits in the shopping district.
The one we went to was the Fruit Market, which is just off the main street of Ichiba Street from Kokusai Street.
I imagined it would be a very large space because it's called a "market," but it's actually the size of a normal shopping street store.
However, there were many different kinds of fruits.
There are many delicious fruits in Okinawa, but this time we chose "Snack Pineapples" as a souvenir.
You can actually pick them and eat them with your hands!
◆Sugarcane Juice◆
When you think of Okinawa, you think of sugarcane!
There was also a shop that squeezed the sugarcane on the spot.
They cut it in the back of the store, put it in a machine and squeeze it into 100% sugarcane juice!
