Furano and Biei, located in the center of Hokkaido, Japan, are highlands where temperatures do not rise even in the summer, and they boast coolness.

And the scenery is also beautiful. Biei with its lush greenery and Furano with its lavender and other colorful flowers, looks like a place from a fairy tale.

It is about 2 hours by train from Sapporo, so you can visit on a day trip, but I recommend staying at a resort in nearby Asahikawa or Furano.

Because you can enjoy Furano Biei exclusively before the group tourists show up early in the morning. Even if you don't have a rental car, you can still get around by taxi, bicycle, or bus like me.
