If there's one place in the world that takes our breath away for a moment, its natural beauty beyond words, it's Farm Tomita in Furano, Hokkaido, Japan—a land of captivating purple lavender fields.
I arrived at Farm Tomita on a late summer morning in July. The air was pleasantly cool, with a gentle breeze, and the sweet scent of lavender wafted through the air even before I reached the farm entrance.
As soon as I entered, the first thing I saw was a vast, endless sea of lavender, densely packed rows stretching all the way to the mountains behind. The contrast of the green trees and the bright blue sky was a perfect match. It's a sight that I can only capture on camera, but my heart remembers it much more vividly.
Farm Tomita isn't just lavender; it also boasts other seasonal flower gardens, including red poppies, white chamomiles, and vibrant yellow sunflowers, filling the entire area with vibrant colors like a painting.
I spent a long time sitting on a wooden bench in the middle of the field, just listening to the wind and the bees buzzing around the flowers, and I couldn't help but smile.
Another must-see zone is the "Purple Sea." Inside the farm, we can observe the essential oil extraction process and purchase authentic Hokkaido lavender souvenirs.
The farm's cafe is a paradise for sweet lovers. Their delicately fragrant "Lavender Soft Cream" is a must-try, a delicate purple color that complements the view perfectly.
In the afternoon, the sunlight turns a soft golden hue, and the mist reflecting off the flowers makes the entire field look like a dream. If you love taking photos, I recommend waiting for this time of year. The light is soft and warm.
Before leaving, I walked up a small hill at the top of the farm. I looked back and saw a vast lavender field, with mountains and sky as the backdrop.
It felt like time had slowed down, and I wanted to capture this moment as long as I could.
Farm Tomita is not only a popular check-in spot for tourists, but also a place where we truly feel that nature can comfort us without saying a word.
