Chumphon Gate

Chumphon Gate, Nakhon Ratchasima Province
It is the western city gate of the old city area of Nakhon Ratchasima Province. It was built during the reign of King Narai the Great in 2199. It is the only city gate out of the four gates of Nakhon Ratchasima that is still intact, along with the old city walls. The name "Chumphon" means a place for gathering soldiers. It is a gate for preparing soldiers and going to war. Because the terrain is wide open, there are no natural fortresses like other gates.
