Two-day and one-night outlying island trip: Matsu and Nangan!

One of the great things about visiting outlying islands is that you can easily see the beautiful ocean from anywhere.

I highly recommend Niujiao Village; if you have time, you should visit. It's located right next to the Matsu Distillery, and the alleyway is almost vertical, so be prepared if you're walking. It's a very quiet and beautiful village, and the ocean is a breathtaking sight. I also had a unique and rich aged wine smoothie at a hidden shop.

If you're visiting during the Blue Tears season, you can also experience the scenery by rowing in the Beihai Tunnel. Instead of a vast expanse of blue, the paddles create tiny specks of white light, which is quite unique.

I also recommend the Iron Fort; the camouflaged bunker is beautiful to photograph. Being on a small island surrounded by craggy cliffs is a unique experience on this military frontier island.
