Yuejiang Tower is located on Lion Mountain in Gulou District, Nanjing, and is known as the "No. 1 Tower in Jiangnan". Before Zhu Yuanzhang proclaimed himself emperor, he planned to build a pavilion and named it Yuejiang Tower. However, there are three famous towers on the Yangtze River, Yueyang Tower, Yellow Crane Tower and Tengwang Pavilion. All three have records of having towers, but Yuejiang Tower has no record of having a tower for 600 years. According to relevant explanations, for some reasons Zhu Yuanzhang did not actually build the Yuejiang Tower, and later generations built a tower also called "Yuejiang Tower".
"The mountains serve as its backbone, overlooking the eternal Yangtze River." With its coiled dragons on golden tiles and red curtains with flying phoenixes, one can have a panoramic view of the entire Jinling city from the Yuejiang Tower. During holidays, you can wait until the lights are turned on at night before leaving. The dazzling Yuejiang Tower under the night view is another grand spectacle.
