Transportation Guide
🚗 Self-driving: From downtown Nanjing, it's about a 1-hour drive entirely on the expressway. The scenery along the way is also quite beautiful, making it ideal for a road trip.
🚌 Public transport: You can take the S7 line directly from Nanjing South Railway Station to Lishui. It's affordable and offers picturesque views of the countryside.
Must-See Attractions
Tianshengqiao Scenic Area
Recommendation: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Known as the "Little Three Gorges of Jiangnan," the胭脂河 (Rouge River) is a man-made canal dug during the reign of Zhu Yuanzhang. The red sandstone banks have been sculpted by the river's flow, creating a unique landscape. Standing on the Tianshengqiao (Natural Bridge), overlooking the Rouge River, is truly breathtaking. You can also take a boat tour for a closer look at nature's handiwork.
Wuxiangshan National Forest Park
Recommendation: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Wuxiangshan is Lishui's natural oxygen bar, with incredibly fresh air. Hike along the mountain trails and enjoy the stunning scenery. At the summit, you'll find Tianchi (Heaven Lake), a crystal-clear lake that shimmers under the sunlight like a giant sapphire. It's a picture-perfect spot.
Shijiu Lake
Recommendation: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Shijiu Lake, nicknamed "Sky One," is Nanjing's little Kenting. Stroll along the lakeshore and admire the endless expanse of water merging with the sky. You can also spot flocks of migratory birds, especially at sunset when the golden glow paints the lake in breathtaking colors. Cycling along the lake is another great way to enjoy the tranquil atmosphere.
Food Recommendations
Lishui Honglan Yudai Cake
Soft, sweet, and delightfully light, this cake comes in various flavors like original and sweet osmanthus. The rich rice aroma is simply irresistible.
Baima Blackberries
Lishui is known as the "Blackberry Capital of China." The blackberries here are large, juicy, and incredibly sweet. Enjoy them fresh or try them as blackberry juice or jam – a nutritious and delicious treat.
