The Six Dynasties Museum in Nanjing is a highly distinctive historical and cultural thematic museum that officially opened to the public on August 11, 2014. Located at No. 302 Changjiang Road, Xuanwu District, Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province.
The Six Dynasties refer to the six consecutive dynasties from the early 3rd century to the late 6th century: Eastern Wu, Eastern Jin, Song, Qi, Liang, and Chen. The museum displays a large number of precious cultural relics including celadon porcelain, pottery figurines, epitaphs, architectural components, stone carvings, calligraphy and paintings, as well as remains of the city walls and large-scale drainage facilities of Jiankang City during the Six Dynasties period. It also introduces stories of famous figures from that era. The museum is divided into four thematic sections exploring the Eastern metropolis of the 3rd to 6th centuries: "Capital of Six Dynasties", "Looking Back at Six Dynasties", "Elegance of Six Dynasties", and "Eminent Figures of Six Dynasties", with four major exhibition halls. The museum's collection primarily consists of porcelain and pottery figurines from the Six Dynasties period.
