A must-do for anyone visiting Okinawa! Gyokusen-do Cave
This time, I used my Okinawa FunPASS to redeem my ticket, scan it, and enter! I had a lot of classes during summer vacation, but thankfully, the parking lot is quite spacious, so despite the short walk, I was able to enter without a hitch. Before entering, a professional photographer and staff member at the entrance were very friendly. They asked me where I was from and spoke some basic Chinese and English. They took photos, which you can pick up later at the exit, near the shopping street. They even adorably asked everyone to strike a pose with their lion mascot.
The great thing about being inside the cave is that it's a pleasant place, even in the scorching summer heat. It's warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
You can take your time to explore and admire this wonder of nature. In some places, the stalactites and caverns are beautifully illuminated, and the gurgling water and the lights create a stunning scene! After leaving the cave, there are several DIY shops, cultural and creative goods shops, and restaurants, perfect for a break and a bite to eat. Since we used the Okinawa FunPASS, we even got a bonus cold beer.
Having a cold beer on a hot summer day is truly refreshing!
Whenever you visit Okinawa, I highly recommend visiting this area to admire the wonders of nature. There are also daily performances every hour, allowing you to experience the traditional Ryukyu Kingdom lifestyle and traditional songs and dances!
