Cafe Milan, a cute cafe in Kayabuki Village, Kyoto

Cafe Milan is a small home cafe in Kayabuki no Sato Village, located on a hill above the village. When you reach the village museum, walk a little further and you will find this cafe.

This cafe is famous for its “Egg Pudding” and “Homemade Ice Cream” because Kayabuki Village is famous for its fresh and clean eggs. When cooked, they taste especially delicious.

They have a menu of drinks, coffee, tea, fresh milk, and desserts, such as pudding and homemade ice cream in 3 flavors: fresh milk, black bean, and yuzu orange. They also have souvenirs to buy and take home, such as fresh eggs, egg chiffon cake, postcards, and various souvenirs.

We ordered the shop’s signature menu, egg pudding and homemade ice cream in milk and black bean flavors. The pudding is smooth and melts in your mouth. The ice cream is also delicious and not too sweet.

Before you leave, don’t forget to pick up a brochure from the shop. Inside, there is a history of Kayabuki no Sato Village written on it, with a map of the village and important landmarks that you shouldn't miss.

🚘 Travel:

- Take the JR Sagono Line from Kyoto Station and get off at Hiyoshi Station (about 45 minutes), then take the Nantan Bus to Miyama (about 25-60 minutes depending on your destination).

- Take the JR Bus bound for Takao from Kyoto Station and get off at Shuzan stop (about 90 minutes), then take the Nantan Bus to Miyama (about 30-60 minutes depending on your destination).
