Miyama Kayabuki no Sato, a historic village in Kyoto.
This village features thatched roofs, a traditional kayabuki style, built over 200 years ago. Today, it's one of the few remaining in Japan. The village houses homestays, shops, restaurants, and a Japanese-style cafe. The houses are densely packed together.
The charming village is surrounded by mountains, creating a stunning atmosphere. Many of the houses are actually residents, and are not open to the public. They are divided into zones that are accessible. If you want to fully experience the atmosphere, there are also homestay accommodations available.
Visit in the morning or evening when there are fewer people for the most peaceful and beautiful photos. This is a popular tourist destination for both Japanese and international visitors, offering a wide variety of food and souvenirs.
Driving from Tokyo is quite a distance and takes a long time, but it's well worth it.
