【Matsu】Jinsha Settlement

Jinsha Village, located in Nangan, Matsu, is one of the most famous Mindong stone house clusters. It boasts one of the best-preserved Mindong-style ancient houses in Taiwan, and its unique history and culture make it a major attraction in Nangan. Although Jinsha Village once declined due to population outmigration, a revitalization project promoted by the local government has revitalized this ancient village into a charming town.

Jinsha Tianhou Temple is the religious center of Jinsha Village and one of the three major Tianhou Temples in Nangan. This temple holds a special story. Legend has it that during the temple's construction, village elders and sculptors received a vision from Mazu, who sculpted the statue into the Black-Faced Mazu. This unique statue is not only a unique feature of Jinsha Village, but also a unique one among Matsu's many Tianhou Temples.
