7 nights in Taiwan ⛰️

🌿 Taiwan Travel Highlights: Alishan, Sun Moon Lake & Taipei

Alishan National Forest 🌲🌄🛤️
I spent two nights within the Alishan National Forest Recreation Area. Hotels here can be more expensive, but staying inside the park offers the best access to sunrise viewpoints and hiking trails.

One of the highlights of my trip was joining a stargazing tour — the night sky was unbelievably clear and full of stars 🌌

Sun Moon Lake 🚡🛥️🚲
Next, I spent two nights at Sun Moon Lake with a beautiful view from my hotel. I arrived in the evening from Alishan, picked up some snacks from a nearby shop, and listened to live music by the pier — the perfect way to unwind.

The next morning, I rented a bike and cycled the full 30km around the lake, stopping at Wenwu Temple, the cable car, and Ci’en Pagoda along the way. It’s a great route with plenty of scenic viewpoints and rest stops.

Taipei 🌇🌃
I spent three nights in Taipei, including a day trip outside the city.

On the first day, I visited Lungshan Temple and wandered around Chifeng Street — a creative neighborhood filled with independent shops, cafés, and street art. In the evening, I hiked up Elephant Mountain to watch the sunset behind Taipei 101, then explored a night market for some delicious local street food.

The next day was a full-day trip to Yehliu Geopark, Jiufen, Shifen, and the Golden Waterfall — a wonderful way to experience the coast and see a different side of northern Taiwan 🌊

On my last day, I took the Maokong Gondola up to Maokong Station, where I stopped at one of the many tea houses 🍵 before walking along the nearby hiking trails.

Overall, this trip gave me a great mix of nature, culture, and city life — from misty mountains and tranquil lakes to vibrant neighborhoods and coastal views. Taiwan truly has something for every kind of traveler 💛
