As you enter the burial site of Humayun, do not forget to visit the mausoleum of Isa Khan on the right. Isa Khan was an influential nobleman of Sher Shan Suri's court. In fact, the mausoleum was set up here because it was customary to bury important personalities along the Yamuna River. This mausoleum was already installed when the Emperor's widow decided to create the site of Humayun next door in 1565. The mausoleum of Isa Khan is an Afghan-style tomb, octagonal and surmounted by a dome. It is built in red sandstone between 1547-1548. It bears witness to pre-Mughal architecture.
