New Taipei City: Must-buy in Wulai Old Street – Millet Mochi

/Must-buy souvenirs from Wulai Old Street/

Although the rain made shopping difficult, I still walked the entire street from beginning to end. Most of the items were millet products, including millet mochi, grilled millet skewers, millet donuts, and local vegetables. There were also mixed dishes at the restaurant (such as gac fruit, sow's milk, and red cabbage). There were many vegetables and fruits I'd never seen before (and even the passion fruit flowers were edible 🤩).

🔎What to eat: Millet mochi, one box, 120 yuan; two boxes, 200 yuan, each one 10 yuan. ✅ I recommend buying two boxes at once.

Millet mochi is super chewy and has a nice, stringy texture. I love all of them except the sesame seeds, which tend to be dry. Taro and red bean mochi are more moist. Peanut mochi is a classic! ❤
✅ The one with shredded coconut is taro.
