Sunshine Park

Recently, after work, I’ve been choosing to take a stroll in Xindian Sunshine Park. Especially at night, when the daytime hustle and bustle fades away, the tranquility of the evening brings a sense of relaxation and healing. Although there are already many places around Xindian suitable for exercise and walking, Sunshine Park at night has a unique atmosphere that allows you to gradually shed the fatigue of the day as soon as you step in.

As night falls, the lights in Sunshine Park gradually illuminate. The pathways are lit with a soft yellow glow—not too harsh, but enough to make you feel safe while walking. The park is well-designed, featuring spacious walkways, lawns, play areas, and riverside trails. What captivates me the most is the scenery along the Bitan River. The evening breeze carries a slight chill, and the water reflects the distant lights, shimmering gently. Accompanied by the sounds of insects and the occasional footsteps, it creates a serene and calming atmosphere.

I enjoy observing the different people in the park as I walk. There are joggers, focused on their rhythm with headphones on; young parents pushing strollers, letting their children breathe in the fresh air; and elderly folks strolling in small groups, their steps slow but their laughter genuine. Occasionally, you might spot a couple sitting quietly on a bench, chatting and enjoying the riverside view, adding a touch of romance to the scene. These moments intertwine, filling the park with a vibrant sense of life.

The nights at Sunshine Park lack the chaos and noise of the city center. Although it’s not far from Xindian MRT Station, stepping into the park feels like time slows down. I particularly enjoy finding a quiet corner to sit and watch the flow of people and events around me. The sounds I hear are no longer work notifications but the wind, water, and laughter. This environment naturally encourages you to put down your phone and fully immerse yourself in the moment of peace.

While walking, I often look up at the night sky. Due to urban light pollution, it’s hard to see a sky full of stars, but occasionally, you can catch a glimpse of one or two twinkling stars. The moonlight reflecting on the river creates a silver-white band of light. It’s not a grand scene, but it holds a simple beauty, reminding me that life is full of small joys.

For me, the greatest benefit of walking in Sunshine Park at night is the chance to reset my mind. During the day, work brings a lot of stress, and my head is often filled with to-do lists. But as I walk along the park’s pathways, focusing on my steps and breathing, those distracting thoughts seem to flow away with the river. By the time I finish a lap, my mood feels noticeably lighter.

What’s even more valuable is the sense of safety here. The park’s lighting is evenly distributed, and while the nighttime crowd isn’t large, it’s not so sparse as to feel eerie. For someone walking alone, it’s very reassuring. Sometimes, I even bring headphones to listen to soft music, immersing myself in my own little world as I walk.

Every time I finish my evening walk, I feel like I’ve been “recharged.” While my body hasn’t undergone intense exercise, my mind feels significantly relieved. Such evenings don’t cost much money or require elaborate planning, yet they add a sense of ritual and relaxation to life.

In summary, evening walks in Xindian Sunshine Park are a simple yet profound pleasure. It’s not just a great place for exercise but also a corner that soothes the soul. After a few visits, I’ve already made it a habit. Whenever I feel stressed or simply want to give myself some quiet time, I think of taking a walk in Sunshine Park. Its nights are not noisy but full of life; not extravagant, but genuine and beautiful. These moments are exactly the kind of romance and freedom I want to preserve in my busy urban life.
