Historic Gem in Wall Street's Heart

Federal Hall is a fascinating historic site located right in the midst of Wall Street. It's amazing to think about the significant U.S. history that took place in this single location. Initially serving as New York's City Hall, it later became the first United States Capitol, and, most notably, it’s where George Washington was inaugurated as the first president in 1789. Inside, the building is striking with its large rotunda, white marble columns, and the impressive statue of Washington out front. Though it's been undergoing renovations for years, it remains open to the public at no cost, and the park ranger was particularly welcoming. During my visit, the first floor was closed—possibly due to renovations or maybe it's off-limits permanently—but the highlight for me was seeing the original balcony stone where Washington stood for his inauguration. It's certainly worth a brief visit!
