Located on the northern side of Times Square, Duffy Square is one of New York's iconic tourist attractions. Situated at the intersection of Broadway and Seventh Avenue, it is famous for its red steps (TKTS Steps). This spot is a classic location for taking photos, and at night, the neon lights and advertisement screens illuminate the area, offering a true experience of the 'city that never sleeps.'
Beneath the red steps, you'll find the TKTS booth, which sells same-day discount tickets for musicals, providing a great opportunity to enjoy popular Broadway shows at a reduced price. To avoid crowds, visiting in the morning or on weekdays is recommended.
The surrounding area is lined with shops and restaurants, and street performers are abundant, making it a lively place where you can feel the city's energy just by walking around. While the area remains bustling late into the night, it's important to stay vigilant against pickpockets.
Access is convenient, as it's just a short walk from the Times Sq–42nd St subway station, served by the 1, 2, 3, N, Q, R, and W lines. It's a great spot to visit before or after catching a Broadway show. Duffy Square truly offers a special glimpse into the 'now' of New York City.
