Tips for Public Transportation: The Most Efficient Travel Plan from Manhattan

For travelers without a car, reaching Wave Hill might seem complicated, but it is quite convenient with public transportation. The most efficient way is to take the Metro-North Hudson Line and get off at the Riverdale station. From there, as the distance to the garden is not walkable, it is best to use a taxi or a ride-sharing service waiting in front of the station. Alternatively, there is often a free shuttle bus operating from the Riverdale station to the garden, so be sure to check the shuttle schedule on the official website before your visit. We used the shuttle bus, which saved us travel costs and was comfortable. Depending on your travel route, you can also take the M1 or M8 bus, but the Metro-North and shuttle combination is the fastest and most predictable option. Riding the comfortable commuter train instead of the complex New York subway can also be a delightful part of your travel experience.
