If you’re in Niigata, visiting a sake brewery is an experience not to be missed — and Imayotsukasa Sake Brewery turned out to be a great choice for our introduction to Japan’s iconic drink.
We joined their guided tour, and while the guide spoke limited English, we were handed English brochures that gave us all the essential information. The tour took us through the brewery’s history and brewing process, offering an insightful look into the traditional techniques still used today.
At the end of the tour, we visited their retail shop, where we could sample some of their sake. One tasting was free, and for just 1,000 yen, you could try a flight of different varieties — a great way to explore the flavors of Niigata’s famous rice wine.
Overall, it was an enjoyable and culturally enriching stop, perfect for anyone curious about Japanese craftsmanship and sake heritage.
