A Memorable Trip: Winerystay Travigne Experience

We recently spent a couple of days exploring this winery with friends from Tokyo, who had organized the adventure. We traveled from Tokyo to Niigata via Shinkansen, covering a distance of just over 300 kilometers. From there, a short local train took us to Uchino, where the winery staff picked us up by bus for another 30-minute journey to the winery at the base of the mountains. Upon arrival, we received a warm welcome in the foyer area of Winerystay Travigne, the accommodation section of the complex, accompanied by a selection of their wines. Our spacious room featured a private veranda that looked out onto the picturesque vines with a stunning view of Mt. Kakuda. During the winery tour, we had the opportunity to pick and sample some grapes. The guide, who was very knowledgeable, led us through the wine-making facilities. Despite the tour being in Japanese, it was quite interesting. Dinner that evening was a nine-course set menu with wine pairings. Though the portions were small, we felt satisfied by meal's end. All food was fresh and locally sourced, and truly delicious. The final course, a selection of delightful cakes, was presented in the foyer lounge—a lovely gesture. The staff throughout our stay were excellent. Sleep quality was first-rate, as was the breakfast the following morning. This destination in the Japanese countryside is certainly worth a visit—a genuine delight.
