"Travels in Nikko: Toshogu Shrine, Lake Chuzenji and Yuba Tofu Cuisine"

I recently took a vacation to Nikko, Japan, and this place full of history, culture, and stunning scenery is definitely a destination worth exploring. It was a wonderful day spent here and I will now share my travel notes with you.

It is recommended that you go to the information center at the station and ask the staff for recommended places to visit in Nikko upon arrival. They will carefully explain the various attractions in Nikko City to you using a map. Also, remember to buy a travel package PASS from them, which includes bus fares and discounts on attraction tickets, which can save you a lot of travel expenses.

First up is Nikko Toshogu, a spectacular shrine dedicated to one of the most famous shoguns in Japanese history, Tokugawa Ieyasu. The architectural style here is unique, especially the towering gate tower, which is absolutely impressive. Inside the shrine, you can feel the long-standing historical atmosphere and admire the exquisite architecture and gardens, which is a paradise for photography enthusiasts. Recently, Toshogu Shrine has added sword exhibitions and the viewing of Tokugawa Ieyasu's animated films. Don't miss it if you visit Toshogu Shrine.

Next, head to Hanai Falls, one of Nikko’s natural attractions. This is one of the highest waterfalls in Japan, and the rushing water and splashing water are truly spectacular. Walking along the trail, you can appreciate the wonders of nature and feel the fresh air and the power of nature. If you love nature and the outdoors, Hualien Falls is definitely a place you can’t miss.

Besides its history and nature, Nikko is also famous for its beautiful lakes. A highlight of my trip was visiting Lake Chuzenji, a picturesque lake with crystal clear waters surrounded by spectacular mountains. Take a boat cruise to admire the beauty of the lake and feel the peace and tranquility. If you want to relax, Lake Chuzenji is definitely an ideal choice.

In Nikko, I also tasted the local cuisine, and the one that impressed me the most was the yuba tofu dish at Sunfield Restaurant. This delicious dish combines traditional Japanese yuba tofu with fresh local ingredients. Yuba Tofu is known for its silky texture and rich broth. At Sunfield Restaurant, we tasted the delicate soup tofu, which was paired with delicious soup base and fresh vegetables, and the taste was amazing. This is a local delicacy that is definitely worth tasting.

In the evening, I checked into the Xingzhiyou Hot Spring Hotel that I booked on trip.com. This hotel offers comfortable accommodation, delicious meals, and amazing hot spring facilities. The relaxing time of soaking in the hot springs at the hotel gave me enough energy for the upcoming adventure. If you are interested, you can check out my post about staying at Nikko Star Inn.

This place combines traditional and modern elements of Japan to provide a unique and enriching travel experience. If you’re planning a trip to Japan, I highly recommend planning a trip to Nikko.
