[Kinugawa gourmet] The pitch black soft serve ice cream

BENTOCAFE KODAMA is located inside Kinugawa Onsen Station in Nikko City, Tochigi Prefecture. This cafe is directly connected to the station and sells bento boxes, mille-feuille cutlet sandwiches, and more. The cafe menu also has coffee and alcohol. This time I had the black soft serve ice cream, which is inspired by steam locomotives.
The ice cream comes in three flavors: black, mixed, and vanilla, and you can choose between a cone or a cup. The black soft serve is quite sweet and has a bitter chocolate flavor that is aimed at adults, but it is rich and delicious. It contains bamboo charcoal, so if you eat it carefully, the area around your mouth will turn black. (Like when you eat squid ink pasta)
I visited the store before 4pm on a weekday, and it was empty. The interior of the store has a calm and bright atmosphere, there are many seats, and it is directly connected to the station, so it is a good place to have tea while waiting for the train. They also have rice crackers, so they look like they would make a good souvenir.
