The Ritz-Carlton, Nikko

The only Ritz-Carlton in Japan with a hot spring is located in Nikko. It's perfect for a hotel stay and a little sightseeing. You can enjoy the view of Lake Chuzenji, taste delicious food, and take a dip in the hot springs. It's the perfect relaxing trip. You can also walk to Kegon Falls in 10 minutes. There are two restaurants in the hotel. The Western-style restaurant "Lake House" and the Japanese-style restaurant "Japanese Cuisine BY The Ritz-Carlton Nikko" were both delicious. You can have breakfast in the Japanese restaurant or in your room, so I chose to have it in my room. By the way, you can choose between Japanese and Western-style breakfast, but the Japanese menu also comes with a bread set. Ritz bread🥐 is a treat♪
My travel planDay113:00 | Arrive at hotel13:00 | Afternoon tea (reservation required)15:00 | Check in16:00 | Walk around Lake Chuzenji17:00 | Relax in hot spring18:30 | Dine at hotel restaurant20:00 | Check the room TV to see if the hot spring is crowded and then go to the hot spring
Day28:00 | Breakfast in room10:00 | Sightseeing at Kegon Falls12:00 | Check out (Marriott members can extend their stay until 14:00, so you can go to the hot spring again before going home)
🚃Transportation from TokyoI recommend the Tobu Nikko Line. The seats are spacious and relaxing. Asakusa ➖ Tobu Nikko (7 stations in total, 1 hour 51 minutes)The fare is about 2853 yen one way, and you need to purchase in advance. When you arrive at Tobu Nikko Station, there is a Tobu bus in front of the station. It takes about 40 minutes to get to Oku-Nikko by using the Tobu bus bound for Chuzenji Onsen. There is also a taxi from Tobu Nikko Station. 6,000 to 7,000 yen. Due to COVID-19, there doesn't seem to be any shuttle service from the hotel at the moment.
