Shinkyō Bridge —the sacred, vermilion gateway to Nikko’s shrines and temples. Spans the Daiya River at the entrance to Futarasan Shrine, part of the UNESCO-listed Shrines and Temples of Nikko. Renowned as one of Japan’s three most beautiful bridges, alongside Kintai‑kyō and Saruhashi Measures 28 m long, 7.4 m wide, and 10.6 m above the river. The existing design dates to 1636, commissioned by shōgun Tokugawa Iemitsu; washed away in 1902, it was rebuilt identically in 1904 .
